Wrong ball joints?
I bought new lowering spindles for my 72 from GMCPAUL'S and was installing them last night. I put in new upper and lower ball joints while I was doing the job. I had the spindle in place, and was torquing down the upper ball joint but can't get it tight enough to see the hole for the cotter pin to go through. I can't get it tightened down enough it seems. The I looked at the other new one I have for the other side and its identical. I put the rest of it together and went to the other side, same thing on the other side too.
Anybody run into this problem? I called the parts place and they verified that they gave me the correct ones. Any thoughts, ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy |

Re: Wrong ball joints?
Try the old spindle on the new ball joint. You may have the wrong year new spindles.

Re: Wrong ball joints?
some spindles are for 73 & up trucks and require ball joints from these years. Mine did but I can't remember if it was the bottom or the top joint.

Re: Wrong ball joints?
I believe the correct upper for a 71-72 spindle is a Moog K6124. Lower is K6117,
