Hi,

I installed a blazer tank under the rear of my truck and just finished the fuel door. I used a marine filler neck (1 1/2 inch) and the polished cover is for a mid nineties chevy pickup.

as good as it looks, how does it function? i had one coming straight out in that section of the bed and it didn't work too well so i angled mine after putting it on the bed floor. going straight up will work but would the nozzle would hit the top of the stainless piece? it seems as though you would need to angle the filler neck out some so you don't have to put the nozzle into the "cave" and then into the "trap", but rather straight into the filler.

i'm tired and don't know what i just said really so here's pics of mine.

Very nice! How does it attach to the body? I have seen these on eBay and they say "no cutting or drilling required." Does it have a ring on the inside that pinches it to the metal?

I took a fuel door out of a 97 chev 1/2 ton and used the spring assm. and attached it to my marker light.

Radman be sure you put a good wire cover in the marker light to make sure the wire doesn't wear through and spark that close to the gas fill.

RADMAN-thats cool but i would hate to bung up that nice paint from something destracting me as im putting the filler tube in the gas opening.
def. a good idea though. will have to keep that in mind for mine.

Most gas openings are on the side of the trucks. Grant you this is smaller than most. I would make sure I did not try to fill that tank when drunk and you would not be driving if you were drunk anyway.At least I would hope not. But a lot of the old cars did have the filler behind the lights like the '56 and '57Chevy's.

I plan on doing the same thing on the OUTSIDE of the bed... I have a ton of billit... it should look nice... I just hope it looks as good as this...

I was going to go with the "marker-light" thing, but I plan on shaving them.....

Both are great ideas but when you have the bed loaded and ya have to fill up how are you gonna manage that one

As for the marker light thats also a great idea....(that should keep gas thieves busy for a while....

)Have you taken it to a full service station yet?If not when you do please videotape it that should be interesting

Did you have to remove the 2 middle x-members at the back of the truck where you installed the tank,or just the smaller one?

I removed 1 crossmember, but don't know if it was a smaller one or not.

I haven't tried filling it yet...truck is still a work in progress. Hopefully I don't have the problems that you mentioned!!

If it was installed on the mid-nineties pickup it was designed for then there would be no drilling....but in this case I used a 4 3/4 inch hole saw and drilled the large center hole, and then drilled smaller holes for all of the bolts around the outside. These outside bolts is what holds it on with nuts on the backside.

Please share more pictures and details of your outstanding job. Part numbers - dimensions - anything - everything!!

I don't have any part numbers off hand. I bought the polished cover off from ebay for about $15.00. I think it was somebody with the username of autozone9722 if I rember correctly..they had several. I also bought the marine fill from ebay and had to cut the plastic ring down on the front and backside to fit inside the opening. All is mounted to a piece of aluminum angle that a polished up a little. Hope this helps!!
