Take a look in http://www.edelbrock.com/ under carbs for tuning info. Lots of info there,& jet & rod specs,& charts for ajusting the jetting. I have a 1407 on my 383,& the first thing I would suggest is to pull the top & check float levels......mine was off,& i have heard other guys say the same. The 1407 ran "fat " out of the box on my 383(flat top 383,with edelbrock rpm heads, intake & carb with a Comp cams XE 268). I knocked the primary jet down from a 113 to a 110, then changed the rod from a 7147, to a 7337. this leaned out the cruise a bit,but fattened up the power mode a bit. I have also changed the pump squirter from a 35 to a 33. Its all different for every app, & rather experimental(this I enjoy), but remember.....1 thing at a time,& I would reccomend reading all you can to get familiar with the carb. good luck........crazy longhorn
