another truck gone for good

Some of you might know I was going to possibly get a k20 from a junk yard.
Well I recieved the news today it had seen the crusher. Now it sits in a little pile.A friend asked him if he would sell him the grill and he said no.He crushed it all.I wonder if it had tow hooks.

Re: another truck gone for good

I've seen a lot of trucks I wanted get crushed too. One was a fairly beat up '69 Custom/20 long stepside with a good bed, Dana 60 leaf rear, and a NICE auto non-tilt column with good shifter indicators. The other was a 1967 C-60 tandem axle grain truck with a 427 tall deck BB and Spicer 5 speed. It had almost new 10.00x20 tires and had air brakes. I wanted the stepside to part out and make some $$$, and the C-60 to make a winch truck out of. I also saw a 1966 C-50 single axle dump truck that was driveable, but it needed tires and it had all 6 original 20" widowmaker split rims instead of the 3 piece lock ring rims, so I stayed away from that one.

Re: another truck gone for good

I almost cry whenever I see a 67-72 GMC/Chevy crushed. It's always a waste to crush an entire truck, always a waste.

JUST GOES TO SHOW YA.... IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU WANT IN A JUNKYARD.... YOU BETTER GET IT NOW & NOT ASSUME THAT IT WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU ON YOUR NEXT JUNKYARDING TRIP. THE RISE IN SCRAP STEEL PRICES OVER THE LAST YEAR & 1/2 PROBABLY HAS SEEN MORE OF THESE OLD TRUCKS CRUSHED THAN IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. THE JUNKYARD OWNER IS JUST DOING WHAT SEEMS TO HIM TO BE THE MOST BENEFICIAL, FINANCIAL WAY TO SEE A RETURN ON HIS INVESTMENT. HE DOESN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR HOBBY, & I KINDA DOUBT THATS WHY HE GOT IN THE BUSINESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HATE TO SEE THEM CRUSHED TOO JOHN

Re: another truck gone for good

about 3 years ago a local yard was gettin ready to crush and i knew they had about 40 67-72 trucks/burbs/blazers/jimmys/panels and i stoped in and offered to buy them all at higher than scrap prices and the owner said no he was going to crush them for weight and again i told him i would give him more than they would bring in weight and he said no he was going to crush them again i rased my price again and he still said no , so they all got crushed , i even tryed to buy all the good parts off them he then said nothing was for sale its all getting crushed and crush stuff he did everything in that yard got crushed and i do mean everything
needless to say i dont buy anything from that yard now

Re: another truck gone for good

I get money for my aluminum scrap, like $.40 per pound.1,000# load yields $400 CASH!!A roll of trim coil stock brings about $20 for scrap. It costs $70 to buy and I can make $300 off of it making something.I love my scrap money, but make alot more doing what I`m in business for.Go figure.
I know a guy with a yard,over 8,000 vehicles.The mobile-crushers come around.He tells them,"Just go around and crush everybody elses.Then,they`ll all have to buy my parts."Smart man.
