Back Glass: Slider or Original
I'm about to go have my windows tinted before Maggie Valley and I have stumbled upon my original back glass. I thought the school had lost it when doing the body work, but my in-laws asked me the other day if I wanted it back. Hell, I didn't know he grabbed it when we picked up my truck. Should I keep my back slider that's in right now or change back over to the original glass. Keep in mind I have NO A/C.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
A/C or not, a slider is a nice option. All my trucks have them and every truck I get I put one in.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Slider is much more useful. Whenever mine goes together, that is the one going in.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Keep the slider but take the slider out and have the local glass shop put tinted safety glass in. You can get from light to dark and it will be much better in the long run.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
While I can apreciate the utilitary uses for a slider, they just look bad IMO.
Personally I'd still go with the solid glass |

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
My C/10 had a slider in it. Key word here is HAD. I don't care for how they look but they are quite useful when cruising with no A/C. You could always go back to one piece if you add air. On another note, does a slider really work with the theme of your truck? You got drop, 20s' ,flames, all the other little custom touches and now a slider? I guess it depends on if it is one with the black metal and one piece of glass that slides over to one side (modern style). Or is it like mine was with the shiny aluminum metal and two small pieces of glass one of which slides either direction (old style).

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Solid glass looks way better but the slider works well with no AC.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
If you are going to a dark tint I would go for the one piece glass. I have never been a slider fan so my vote is tainted.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
That's my problem. I like the look of the one piece especially tinted, but the I want to be as comfortable as I can be when I drive it. I'm leaning towards just keeping the slider just wanted a couple of different opinions.
Nobody will break into my truck. I have the Cheap LED Security Light

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Flip a coin. You have the black frame with tinted glass. It's not VERY obvious, but it's easy to see it's a slider. I'm going back to a solid rear glass in mine when I restore it. It's great when just putting around town, but at highway speeds, it pulls hot air from the exhaust between the cab and bed, then blows it in the cab. NOT GOOD on a muggy, 93 deg. day when it already feels like Haities anyway.
If YOU like it, keep it. One thing I do like about a slider, is i can open it up and hear my pipes.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Nice to be able to get some ventilation with no AC with a rear slider. I can open the floor vents and leave the side windows closed and open the rear and that is a lot quieter to me.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Yes, they do make an electrical one. It's about $200 I think. I forget who makes it for our trucks. An electrical one would be sweet.

Re: Back Glass: Slider or Original
Like everybody else has said, this all boils down to preference.
Personally, I don't think the slider breaks up any lines on the back of the cab, because there is already the gasket sticking out around the window. I also don't think there is a "security" issue with them either. Yeah, they could be really easy to break into with a screwdriver, but its not exactly like these trucks are hard to get into anyway. I can easily unlock my door with a coathanger or slim jim, or I could even twist the vent window backwards. Actually, the slider would just prevent the would-be thief from destroying anything getting in. I like them for the ventilation, and also so you can throw trash into your bed instead of onto the floor. It's also a handy ingress/egress hatch if your truck gets blocked in from the sides.
