1984 4 speed manual
What transmission is this thing? Its a 84 Silverado 4x4 1/2ton. 4 speed manual, and where can I find parts for it??? Thanks guys

Does it have a low first gear?
If so, its an SM465, and there are parts for it all over the net. If its got overdrive, or doesn't have a regular low gear, then it is something else.

Can you possibly get pictures of it? It might be a car transmission that was swapped in

You may have the 4 speed overdrive trans that was used in the early to mid 80's. The GM production code is MY6, and the transmission is a New Process A833. A dealer can check your VIN number and tell you if that's what you have.
You should be able to get parts from the dealer or through a transmission shop. I've purchased seal and gasket sets through trans shops at reasonable prices. The shifters used on this trans were made by Hurst. Last edited by Kopper; 04-21-2006 at 02:51 PM. |
