frame problem
do you think i shoud replace the single frame rail, complete frame, complete front section or ? the frame has a crack that someone put bird crap welds all over.

JC Whitney sells a repair panel for that area. The paticular area is prone to cracking due to the excess stress from the steering componets.

Yeah, its common for a 4x4 to crack there, but I've never seen a 2wd crack before before...
The frame rails between the 74 and the 86 should be the same, less the very front of the rail where the bumper bolts on.

Find a heavy truck repair shop with a licensed welder on staff. My industry is used to repairing/modifing frames.

 I'm doing it myself. I forgot to mention that i am a licensed and certified welder. I'll post pics when I get some.

well i said i would update so here are progess pics. these are of the frame rail that i am using. it is a little shorter, but it has to work, because i went to two wrecking yards and there was one frame between the two that had already been cut. fudge!!
