p/u beds
I,m new to this forum and about to buy a truck. Quick question, some trucks have wood beds and some have metal. Were these beds specific to a certain year or model. Thanks in advance.

Re: p/u beds
Stepsides only came with wooden beds. Fleetsides could be either/or (I'm not too sure since I've only dealt with stepsides).

Re: p/u beds
Fleetsides could be had with either/or. It was an option for 67-72 I think.

Re: p/u beds
some model numbers could only be had with woden floors.... all step sides, and all longhorns, only came with wood.
The fleet side model number trucks had wood as an option. |

Re: p/u beds
I didn't know that longhorns only came with wood floors. That's why the longhorn I looked at had a diamond plate steel floor.

Re: p/u beds
They did that becouse it was easier (cheaper) than tooling up for longer than standard sheet metal floors since it was such a low production truck.

Re: p/u beds/new truck today
Thanks for the info., I went ahead and bought my truck today, 1972 swb it had just finished a cab off restoration. 375hp 350, hugger orange paint and new interior. All the moulding and chrome was either plated or replaced. It was a fun day today....The person I bought it from owned it 20 years and I have been watching him rebuild it for the last five years.
