Stupid Question??? How to lock the doors? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

This may be a stupid question, maybe not. The only way I have found to lock the doors on my 72 GMC, is to use the key from the outside. Is that the only way? On my 66 Chevelle, I can lock the doors by pushing the knob down and the inside and then holding the knob in on the outside when I shut it. Is there another way to lock the doors, other than using the key on the outside?

Two ways, outside with the key, or sit inside and push the knob down.

That's the way it was. Kept you from locking your keys inside.

it sure doesn't help when you break a key off inside of the tumbler

Man you learn so much on this board i just assumed they were fudged up i still kinda got to push on the door to lock with the key. Well ill cross fixing that off of my long list of things to fix!!!!

I have some other ways.

Roll down your window, and shut your door then lock

Crack your vent window, and snake you arm through

Break out your rear window

Slim Jim and lock it

All of these are prob not the answers you're looking for, nor the securiest way..

I installed a remote power door lock kit from the dreaded LMC. Reasonable price, good quality and all I gotta do is push the button.

$69.95 if I remember correctly.
