Question headers

just wondering what headers i can use on my 71(350). i plan on laying frame and the ones that i have now hang down too far. just trying to find out before i order something that won't work. and one more thing do i have to section my crossmember? i have seen posts where people have done this but i don't understand why.

thanks

Re: headers

I just bought some shorty headerman ones and i thought i was going to have a problem with the frame rails but they fit ok, it's not easy to get to the collecter bolts but it works and are above the frame rails. I'll try to get some pics later today.

Re: headers

I have the early classic headman headers and the work just fine. Not so good to buy unless you a drug dealer $$$$. But, I Z'd the frame 2 3/4" sectioned the x-member 1.125" and hacked the bottoms off the frame rails 2" and the headers still fit with all that madness going on. DONT buy the tubular motor mounts from Classic performance parts unless you dont mind cutting up 130.00 to make the headers clear. And people section the x-member to get the suspension up, and to try to get the MONSTER a-arms not to hit.
