Question dam rattles

Is there any way to make the transfer case linkage not rattle so much, its really starting to bug me. Also how do you adjust the clutch. The clutch linage rattles when the truck is running but if i push in the clutch petal about 1/4" it stops.

Re: dam rattles

Are you sure you don't have a bad throwout bearing? I recall them being noisy when they go bad, and that applying a little pressure to the pedal makes them go quiet.

Re: dam rattles

it could be a throw out bearing because the clutch is almost gone but its not a grinding noise, its more of a clunk clunk noise like the linkage is to far apart but i really dont know, im havent worked on something this old and i've never seen a rod actuated clutch before, i guess im a youngin

Re: dam rattles

The rod linkage is adjustable. You can get underneith and lengthen the rod so it won't rattle. Also grease your Z-bar (you'll know what it is when you see it), as they break if they arn't regularly lubed up.

Only way to make the t-case linkage stop rattling is to replace all the bushings and stuff to solidify it.
