How wide is a factory 1971-72 C30 dually rear axle from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface?
Thanks for your help in advance! Jim "69oldie"

Re: How wide is......?
Longhorn Man....thats too bad . Pumpkin, what year is your dually truck? For some reason I would have thought that a dually rear Eaton axle was wider than 63" ? My single rear wheel Eaton HO72 I have (Yes I have a couple spares!) are 65" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. I wonder if there is a narrow and a wide dually versions?

Re: How wide is......?
That sounds about right to me. On these trucks the extra wheels were tucked in, not sticking out.

Is it possible to convert a DRW Eaton H052/72 to disc brakes? Blackbird, for one, offers a kit for SRW Eatons, but with the DRW wms being less than SRW axles, wouldn't the supplied SRW rotor be too deep in the *hat* and thereby hit the backing plate? IOW, the backing plate on SRW and DRW Eatons are the same and mounted the same, right? But the back of DRW hubs are further inboard than the back of SRW hubs? Anyone have experience sourcing drum brake parts for DRW Eaton H052s? Same stuff as 11" brakes on SRW Eatons? [/Thread Hijack]

Re: How wide is......?
I've got an eaton in my 72 blazer. I converted it to disc brakes, used caddy calipers, front rotors, made my own caliper brackets, and chaged it to six stud, so I could keep my mags and tires. For caliper brackets you can also use front 4X4 caliper brackets, and weld them on to the housing, direct, or by means of a flange and bolt set up. By the way what does DRW and SRW stand for? Single and dual wheels?

Single and dual wheels... that is correct.
