Pre paint prep?
Hi,
We'll be getting my truck painted sometime this summer. I was wondering what we should do before taking it in. We hace already sanded and primed the cab, and I am going to do the bed as well, because those were the two places with the most rust. So will they take it apart to paint it or what?? Also, is there anything else we can do to save ourselves some money? We just brushed on the primer on the cab, because it'll get sanded down anyway when they paint i assume. Thanks Chad |

Re: Pre paint prep?
A lot depends on what you expect. If you want a really good paint job prep and bodywork are key elements. If you are not having a true bodyman(bodyperson) do the work they may just spray over whatever you take to them.If you have someone who truly insists on doing it like a pro they will probably hit you for new rockers and other stuff.
If you take it to Maaco they won't even mask it well. Make sure you have a complete understanding of price, time and materials from your painter before work starts.I can't count the horror stories from BB members who had paint and/or bodywork problems.
