400 question.
A guy at my work said he was looking to get rid of a 400 with a 877 casting. Can somebody please give me some details on this block?

Re: 400 question.
I don't have a 877 listing but there is a 3380817 small block 400. It is a 2 bolt main with three freeze plugs per side. It was used in 73-76 cars and 75-80 trucks. All other 400 small block last three numbers were really different.
Can you verify the casting number and date? Jim |

Re: 400 question.
It`s probably as 817 block. I`ve got one I was going to build into a 377 and I talked to a guy who has a race engine shop and he said they are decent blocks. everyone wants the 509 casting ans he said he could`nt find anything different between them.
