Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :) My 71 Burb...

I figured I would start one too since I'm digging into mine now... I haven't gone too far with it yet but it's definitely moving now...

The first picture is what my 71 Suburban looked like the day I bought it with its 307/ 3spd. Paid $200 for it... The orange burb is a 72 C20 Burb that I picked up as a parts truck. Paid $425 for it... It has a good running matching # BB/T400. The next pic is how it looked when I got the Cheesewagon from Tom last Feb... The last pic is how it looks now...

I am putting the 402/T400 in it, with a 700R4 going in at a later date... A/C is a must and it will be lowered with airride someday...

Love the 68 front end!
Lots of interesting stuff parked in that yard. Is that a mid 60's Caddy on the left??

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

Lets play "I Spy". I spy a 60's Caddie, an 80's Monte Carlo SS, a 69 Camaro, a 40 Ford (maybe a 39, hard to tell without the grill), and an 85 Camaro.

How close am I?

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

Pretty close... 66 Pontiac Catalina, 40 Ford, 86 Iroc, 86 Monte SS, 69 RS/SS Camaro, 69 Firebird 400 Coupe, 70 Bonneville, 65 Sportcraft 19' Runabout & in the garage a 69 Firebird 400/4spd convertible...

What you don't see to the right is the 73 Nova SS skytop in the other side of the garage, the 56 Nomad along side the garage, the other 69 Bird(yes, 3 of them) another 72 Burb, a 52 Chevy 2dr Fleetline(fastback) and my dads old F*rd van. Plus a 52 Shephard 22' Mahogany speedboat(needing a resto)

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

NO ONE MAN should be aloud to own THREE 69 'Birds! I had a chance to buy a mostly rust free georia car (no motor, trans, or interior) for $900 a few years ago. Been kickin myself in the ass for not buying it ever since, but at the time I had just dropped 2K in the '67 That burb is going to be sweet! Did I mention that a '69 firebird was at that very top of my "dream car" list? I wouldn't mind owning one of the EIGHT 69 Trans Am ragtops built that year. (4 4 speeds and 4 autos)

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

Here's what I'm into now... The passenger side isn't too bad... I've certainly seen worse... Here it is with the rockers removed...

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

Drivers side, different story... It is pretty disgusting but still fixable. All in all, I have to put in both front cab supports and fabricate the floorpan/inner rocker but that's well within my means... The lower part of the drivers side 1/4 panel needs to be fabricated too.

Re: Yet ANOTHER build up thread... :)

She does have some rust but nothing too bad. I've definitely fixed worse. I already went to the local fab shop & had them bend up some sheetmetal for me to fix the floors. Just have to do some finish work on them before they get welded in...
