and it has 3941733 stamped on it, now I'm confused.

Maybe the kept the same part number but changed the castings.

Mine has 3663349-50, the mate has no numbers at all.... other than the swap meet price tag that is.

No, sorry.
The numbers visible in that pic is all I can find about tow hooks in the parts book I have. There is nothing about the 72 only hooks to find, the book covers CHEVROLET 1946-72, 1/2 THRU 1 TON TRUCKS, SERIES 10-20-30,
EFFECTIVE MAY, 1979

Re: Tow Hook Part #'s

GM changes jobbers/castings/designs within the model year and keeps the same part numbers.I`ve ordered parts, then got them,"This ain`t it".The partsman says,"Here`s the number in the book."Then I say,"I don`t care what the book says, that ain`t what I ordered."Then he says,"Well, you ordered it,you bought it."I say,"Bull$#!+",then he make some comment about people that don`t know what they`re doing coming in here and ordering stuff and stickin`him with it,blah blah blah...shouldn`t be working on vehicles.I jump across the counter, nail him, cops, night in jail. It`s no fun I tell ya.Oh yeah,so the parts can change but not the number.I`m pretty sure.
