Blank Guages?
Heresa NOOB question for you guys.
I found this pic on another members thread. I notice he has a tachometer in the center, I dont have a tach on my cluster. I have just lines there no needle or anything. My truck is a 3 on the tree and I believe it came stock that way. also to the left of the oil guage is another blank one, I believe this is supposed to be vaccum? Can someone clear this up for me? Re: Blank Guages?
Tachs were usually found in the larger trucks like 1-tons, but I think were an option also on some C10' and C20's (although I may be wrong on that one). The blank one by the oil PSI is for a vacuum gauge, same story as above.

Re: Blank Guages?
you can now get conversion kits for both of them, or you can even by a new gauge cluster that already has them.

Re: Blank Guages?
You can get the gauges separately. You'll need a new back panel piece for the vac gauge. It is one piece that holds the vac and oil pres gauge. You can order a tach from Brothers or other place, but you need to remember you will need to also order a new inner bezel (the stock inner bezel doesn't have the cut-out for the vac gauge, and also a new complete lens that accomodates all the gauges. It's not a difficult swap.

Re: Blank Guages?
The tach was avalible on any truck, any engine, standard on none of them.
The other blank hole was always blank on pickups. No option to fill the hole. Some will say there was an optional clock, but I have yet to see factory lit saying so. In the bigger trucks, a vacume guage was avalible, or, if the truck had air brakes, an air guage was standard. |
