suspension set-up

Hello again everyone. Just looking for some opinions. I want my 67' short step side to handle like a sports car ( well good anyway). I hear air ride is good, but I'm not too crazy about that. So..... what do ya think.

Re: suspension set-up

if a sports car feel is what you want, then........................air bag it, or chop up a vette and go to fabbing. the advantage of air is that your truck will ride like a sports car, and will still haul and/or tow, but the vette suspension will render it a true "sport truck" only.

Re: suspension set-up

i vote for choppin up the vette or if you dare to be different and want to go rear engine chop up a ford gt and bolt your body on

more realistickly lowering the center of gravity replacing all suspension bushings and pieces adding front and rear sway bars upgrading brakes shocks and better tires will make a night-and-day difference

Re: suspension set-up

I like the vette idea, but I think air is more realistic.

Re: suspension set-up

I think cdowns hit the mark.Lower it sway bars and suspension bushings. Also a variable ratio steering box.

Re: suspension set-up

Getting it lowered will be the first step. Airbags if properly sized and installed correctly are a good choice. I would also stop in at www.pro-touring.com and www.lateral-g.net for further help for making your truck handle. There is not too much in the way of bolt-ons for the front yet, but they are coming.

Re: suspension set-up

Go to the suspention section of this board and look up PorterBuilt. He does some real nice performance suspention set ups for our trucks. Everything from corecting some of the problems with the front geometry to full vette set ups.
