Front brake cylinder removal
goin thru the brakes on my 69' C-10 Stepside with front drum
brakes, the rear cylinders are attached with 2 small bolts from the backside, however the front cylinders have a 1 1/8" inch nut /stud where the main springs on the shoes attach to, see picture, can't budge it, even tried an air wrench, any suggestions? was thinking of heating it up with a torch. Thanks Mark |

An impact wrench is going to be needed. By the way, the front brake wheel cylinders are specifically for the left or the right, in comparison to the rears.
I converted to discs on my '69 C-10. I know everyone can't, won't or doesn't want to, but it sure improved the driveablility. Get an impact tool and go for it. Heating it will help, too. There are some hand-held impact tools that you strike with a mechanics hammer, while twisting in the desired direction. What I have is a 3/8' drive, and my inch and an eighth impact socket is for a 1/2" drive. An adapter would be necessary. I don't know if anyone makes an adapter suitable for impact drivers/wrenches. A lesser quality tool would probably break....how soon is anyone's guess. Good luck.

JAGER69 look behind the nut you should see a flat washer that's been bent up on one side.
That flat washer holds the nut on so it will not back off.I just did my brake system on my 69 so that's how I know. By the way I only used a 1/2 inch breaker with a cheater bar, so best of luck.
