i have 68 long fleet. after looking and reading many of your threads i have decided to go with a 4/6 drop. i am looking for a better than stock ride. what springs are suitable along with shocks and drop kit. will i have drive shaft problems? i will use a set of 20 inch 07 Tahoe wheels and tires. i don't like spacers. what about wheel adapters to correct the off-set and cure the center bore? where can i find these or other suggestions. i would also like to upgrade brakes to power but leave drum/drum. go with used booster or new? where is a reasonable place for drums and wheel cylinders. to extend time on the 307 what can be added to the fuel to save the valve seats? has 3 on tree has anybody upgraded to newer type 5 speed overdrive standard trans and what is involved. truck must remain stick! looking for some of your creative ideas and suggestions. thanks

as for the brake booster find someone that got the brackets and mounting hardware and buy a new booster for the parts store

You should be look into the 4/6 drop kit from Early Classic

It will have the springs, shocks, new shock brackets, and panhard bar.
AS for the booster, just bolt on a new booster although you may need to find the correct rod (brake pedal to booster) for this.

You're not going to be able to go 4/6 without converting the front to disc. Well, you could, but not correctly. The link to Early Classic that John Fabris posted has the conversion stuff. I would get shoes and wheel cylinders from your local parts store. Sorry, no help on the adapters.

thanks. if i understand there is a limitation on how far you can drop safley using only coil springs. if i want to stay with drum, what can i drop with just coils and proper shocks? i want the truck to have a level look and the tire i have right now is a 275-55-20. it may be to tall and can be changed. any articals or ideas on tranny?

4/6 is the limit on dropping your truck without modifying the rear frame for a C-notch. Some may say that you should do a C-notch for a 6inch drop on the rear, really your own decision to make. Chris (powell72) is correct that you will need to goto disc in the front. Are your rims 5 lug or 6 lug?

Here is a shot of my 67 short fleet with the 4/6 drop (but my rims are 15 inch)

NICE TRUCK!!! i like how it sits, a lot of attitude. i am going to use a set of 07 tahoe polished 20 inch wheels 6 lug. they have 255-75-20 tires i may have to change tire size, but they are brand new so would like to use them.if i understand correctly i cannot lower front 4 inchs by springs only but must use spindles which means disc brake (more money) why? if i do stay drum how much can i drop front by spring only and still have good safe ride quality?another thought most of the trucks i see with a 4/6 do not have very tall tires on them, so if i can correctly backspace the 07 tahoes with 275-55-20 on them. i may not have to drop 4/6. its not the ground clearance as much as the filled wheel well look i am after. any imput on that? this site is great i learn and get new ideas everyday thanks

I believe you can do a 3'' drop front spring and be o.k.
