Thorley Tri-Y Headers, you have?

does any one have either of these headers? I can tell there is a diffrence but they say either one will fit. If the link doesn't work I'm trying to compair Thorley Tri-Y Headers summit part numbers DTE-372Y and DTE-300Y. I need something that will not drag when I finish bagging my blazer.

The 372 looks more like a 3/4 length header...better for a lowered vehicle.

How long do you think the chrome finish will last. I'm not too worried about blueing just rusting/ flaking.

I'd personally go ceramic coated and not worry about the chrome wearing off, but it'll cost you almost $200 more for the same header.

The chrome lasts,just blues.I`ve wondered if these would work for a manual 4wd`72.They say manual`73-up 2wd,not 4wd.Must be close.

I've had the 300-Y's on since December, 2002. Chrome went blue immediately, but is quite durable, though they look like cr@p.

Do these have thick flanges? Have you had problems with leaks?

The 372Y's seem to be the same header used in the classic trucks header/magnaflow install. Not sure about how low they hang, but the fit seems good. I was thinking about the same headers...Little pricey, but I'm sure they will last.

Has anyone installed the 372Y on a lowered (4/6) manual truck? I'd like to know how they fit before ordering them.

To me,on a lowered truck headers don`t matter with clearance.They are definately closer to the ground than stock exhaust at the collector.And,everything that close to the road is vulnerable.But they are not as low as the frame like they are what hits if you bottom.It would have to be an object above the plain of the roadbed to be a concern.It`s been my experience that anything that can hit a header is bad news for any part under your truck.But,if you`re not looking for the benefits of long-tube headers,block-huggers or 3/4 length help keep the out of that risky zone.

I'm looking for a cermic coated header that doesn't hang down. 3/4 length would be fine. I didn't really want to spend $500 bucks, but I'm not looking for a cheap POS either. Does anyone have the ceramic coated hedmans on there lowered truck?

Yes, the flanges are thick and they seal tightly. NEVER had a leak.

Here's mine (300Y). Bought these back in about 93 and put about 50K miles on them or so. Big thick flanges and never had a leak except occasionally at the collectors. Most headers are 16ga, but these are 14 ga. which makes them more durable and a little quieter.

When I bought these, the collectors were a little close to the ground for my liking so I heated up the secondary tubes and used a floor jack to get about 2" more of ground clearance. I have been so impressed with the durability of these that I welded up the air injection holes and fixed some minor dents from my early careless driving days and had them ceramic coated.

They turned out great and will provide many more years of use.
