"Blue Book" type website for old trucks?
I am trying to justify the purchase of a 72 Chevy p/u and/or a 72 Blazer to my wife. She just thinks they are old worthless vehicles. Is there a "Blue Book" type website that I could go to get ballpark values on older trucks?
Thanks much...Stacy |

nada.com is one but it isnt very accurate. It says my 72 4wd blazer is worth more than my 71 2wd Blazer.

Cool. Nada said my truck is worth $5k (low) $9k (avg) or $19k (high)
I dont think it would qualify for high, but probably average....

This site is probably one of the best around for determining the approximate value of a truck. There are probably more 67-72 trucks bought and sold by members of this board that any other group. You can look for similar trucks on in the classified section (might even find one you want buy) or if you have one in mind, you can post pics and information in a "whats it worth" thread. I Think that you must be a paid site supporter to post a WIW thread.

NADA is smoking crack.
Look on e-bay, that'll give you a good idea too. |

For my truck I just call the local scrap yard to see what the price/ton is.

I tried Nada. It says my truck, with only minor cosmetic damage, (dents) would be worth $5,500.00
It's worth that much to me, but no way I could get anything over 2k for it. It's not restored enough.

If you want to convince your wife that it's an investment then the simplest thing to do is turn on "Speedchannel"Let her watch a couple hours of Barrett-Jackson and she'll think you got a steal on just about any truck you buy.Of course we all know that vehicles like that are for museums but she doesn't have to be told.

Re: "Blue Book" type website for old trucks?
Thanks for the tips, guys. The NADA prices seem a little high, but that is good for my purposes. After showing my wife this, she is more receptive to a possible purchase. We also looked at some '72 Blazers, and now she wants one. If she is nice to me, maybe she will get one someday.
Have a good one, and thanks again...Stacy |
