Here is a comparison I never thought of posting. I took these shots in june of '03, and never posted them. This is actually of the old cad 425 that scattered after a day of cruising.

A shot we are all familiar with... a small block in a truck. woo hoo

now, feast yer eyes on this pig;

And for the record, the fire hazzard of an airfilter on the cad motor was only there to keep the rats from pooping in the carb... it is now hanging on the wall over the window in my bedroom, right by the valve covers hanging over the roll away tool box I use for a night stand... please stop laughing.

A few years back we shoved a 500 inch Caddy motor in my dad's 84 crew cab dually. The truck had been a diesel and like most GM diesels , it threw a scrap iron fit. SOOOO..... my father being the ever mindful hillbilly engineer bought a low mile little old lady Caddilac and dropped engine and trans both in the dually. We even used the diesel mounts, just swapping sides and turning them around they bolted up nicely. That truck would absolutely BOIL the tires from a dead stop. It was absolutely a hoot to drive and got both of us in a lot of trouble. Just my caddy experience, Dean

BTW someone on the BB did his sons room in the Craftsman Garage stuff that looks like step plate and used a Camaro hood for a wall hanging.It's been a while since he posted pics of it.

but 2 things are missing in that second pic. I dont see a Mountain Dew or a pack of Camel smokes. was that a bad day?

Panel... I am waiting for the lawyers to tell me I am single. But, I've always had room to do at least one area how I wanted. I normally kept it to a minimum, and kinda hidden, but, I have always had at least one wall done up my way.
The rats poop all over the 425 I just picked up... you should see this thing, it's really sick. When we popped the hood, the poop was about 1 1/2 to 2 inches deep all over the intake. The engine has been in the bac of my truck for almost a week now. It has rained, I've driven a total of 100 or so miles on the freeway at 70-ish MPH... and there is STILL crap all over it. GM SHOULDA done this. They would have sold more of these than 6.5 craper motors.
LOL... no dew and no smokes.... hmmmm.... maybe it was one of those times where i hit my head and decided to try and cut back.

Bet that motor in the back is doing wonders for your fuel mileage. I try to keep my bed clean these days spending 225.00 dollars a week in fuel.

Blue...that's what color a caddy is supposed to be. Not trying to make anyone think it is a chevy color. The 500 in the truck right now is a MUCH nicer shade of blue;

MPG stays at 10 - 12 no matter what i do.. and it rides WAY better with thad weight strapped to the tailgate.

Hmmm, Caddy engine+drivers license+Jake's GMC+ a bunch of people watching=license revoked.

I'd love a Caddy engine, but I couldn't afford the fuel for it, and I don't want to cut my truck all apart to shoehorn it in.

Jake, it can be done with almost no hacking at all. A dimple on the firewall, and hammering down the flair on the passenger side frame rail by the (small block chevy's) fuel pump.
MPG... I might actually get better MPG then you do.

You probably do get better mileage than me, it doesn't take me anytime to burn 5 gallons of gas. But, I'm always racing and roaoring, flooring it in 3rd and lugging it along, which may have something to do with poor mileage. Maybe I'll get a Caddy 500 and drop it in, see how good it fits.
