Engine Code please help V0405XX
Can someone help to verify this engine code. I find it to be a 69 350 found in K-20 and 30's. That will be dissapointing since I have a 68 K-10 that is tagged to have a 327. That would explain the 4bbl Quadrajet that was on it too. Any thoughts, good bad if its true? thanks...

Is this the complete code from the pad just in front of the passenger side cylinder head ? That's what we need. I'll be able to help if you can get the alpha code and the vin sequence from this location. Thanks, Dean

Re: Engine Code please help V0405XX
OK , found it. XX is the correct code for a 69 C-10,20,30 or P-20,30 with 4 barrel carb. Listed as medium duty. That's the only application that my original GM manuals list for that alpha code. Hope that helps, Dean

Re: Engine Code please help V0405XX
oops, just checked (and rubbed a little dirt off) It's YX not XX. That's a 67 327 which would be correct for a 68 truck. thanks for the help...what's does your book have on that one?

Re: Engine Code please help V0405XX
There's usually a partial VIN there as well. It will contain the last 8 or 9 numbers of your VIN and it will be stamped on that same pad. If you can find it you'll know that it's probably your original engine. People have been known to deck the block and restamp these numbers on high dollar show cars. It isn't right but they do it.
