Intro, and question about rims.. 20's and 22"s??

Hey guys I'm brand new to the board. Like many of you I am a internet junkie, and a professional junkman in the making. HAHA Anyhow, I just bought my first "cool" truck. I had a 68 Camaro in high school and like an idiot I sold it. I was itching for some a new project and came accross this 68 Chevy truck SWB. Its not pretty but its straight and doesnt have a ton of rust. Its got a solid 350 with a cam, intake, and headers. Backed by a turbo 350 tranny. I have way to many projects going at the moment but, what the heck you just cant pass on a good deal. I'm rebuilding my 72 Triumph 650 hardtail motorcycle, rebuilding my 22re for my 4Runner, and tweaking my newly aquired Harley Sportster. My wife and I live in Austin, but where both from Cy-Fair area near Houston. Man I miss Houston. So just wanted to intoduce myself. And see if I could get some input.

I basically have a primer 68 Chevy with 15" moon eyes with bald tires. I was thinking of going the typical route of the kinda drag look with some 15" Crager "pro-star???" with some like 295/50's in the rear. Lower it some and call it done. And move on to the interior and attack the rust. Also, that is the cheaper route of the two options. Or what really sounds cool to me is. Maybe 18's in the front and 20's in the rear, or 20's in the front and 22" in the rear. I'm running 3:73 gears which is great for my seatup now. Just trying to consider what you guys think of the bigger rim set up. I dont want it really low, no bags for now. Maybe like the fenders about a half to maybe and inch above the tire. Oh yeah, i'm going to leave the truck primered(dark) with a black cab, and flat black racing stripes down the hood and tailgate. With the bigger rims I would go with black rims with a polished lip. I have been searching the board and I have seen some awesome 20" set ups. Simply amazing. Please give me your req's and try not to flame me for being new. Later

I think the 20 and 22 combo would look sweet. Or just 20's would look sweet. You will probably want to lower your truck with springs or bags after you put the wheels and tires on. Anyways Welcome and good luck!

Welcome from Round Rock! You'll dig this site. I too am from Houston. I don't miss it though

There is a cool hot rod scene here in Austin. It tends to move however as business owners get fed up with ricer punks messing it up for everyone by burning out and leaving trash behind. Anyway, there are two main places to hang on Saturday nights. One at the Y in Oak Hill at the Albertsons parking lot and up north in RR at the HEB parking lot at hyw 79/Mays.

Let me know if you have any questions about where to get parts or machine work done in town.

Check out my ride.....

Howdy from the NWest side of town. I have a 68 long fleet that IS a total rust bucket. Nothing pretty, but I have been working on it for a year and a half.

Hopefully I'll take it up to Round Rock in the next couple of weeks.

What part of town are you in?

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! If I were you I would look at some trucks (either at shows or pics on this board) and decide the look I like the best. Take some pics of your truck and get some of the wizards on the Photoshop board play with it. Good luck and post some pics of your ride!
