Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
Here is my story.
I got a 67 lwb c 20 stepside that i ve been restoring to original(for the past 5 years.).Everything is finished except the seat. Mine was in bad shape,(all ripped and broken springs), so I found a donor out of a 70 GMC. After looking for a long time,I couldn't find an original seat upholstery with the proper patern. I live in Canada and I found a supplier in Ontario who deals with PUI interiors out of Kentucky. They said they didn't manufacture one for the 67 but they were interested in doing so . So I sent them my covers and they set up their equipment and duplicated mine in teal green, the original color. There is only one problem, when it got here it was 3 inches too short. (56 inches.) Then I sent it back and waited all summer and when it finally arrived it was still too short. After calling the company they said they still had the old one and it measured 56 inches. My questions are, 1- Could the old one have shrunk or did they screw up and just wont admit it? 2- A 67 cover should fit on a 70 seat, right? 3- Did anybody ever deal with PUI? (are they a reputable company?) 4- Does anybody else manufacture this cover? This cover is now in their catalogue under new products(so I am told) but I cant see that they sold any at that size! Thank you for listening to me and any information or comment would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!!!

Re: Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
put it in the dryer heat it up and see if it will streach enough to install for a nice tight fitting seat cover

No they are not all the same.
67-8 (DLX & STD) are different. 69-70 (DLX & STD) are different. 71-2 (DLX & STD) are different. Go get a 67-8 seat just like you took the covers off of and sent for patterns. It will probably fit. Make sure you don't get the different style from what you used originally. Their is a deluxe and a standard model in each year group. |

Re: Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
So far no one is reproducing the original bench seat covers for the 67-68 Chevy trucks. I wanted to get the seat in my 68 reupholstered like original but no one that I know of has the original style covers for the bench, only the buckets. As far as PUI goes, I've never heard of them.

1-800-342-0610 Like I said up top, I sent them mine and they made me another one that looked like the exact same pattern and exact same color(that I couldn't find anywheres) but does not seem to be the right size. The one they sent me is 56 inches and all the others I measured are about 59. The quality seems to be very good though.

Re: Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
I looked at the seat foam and covers that are offered on some different truck parts websites and they all say the same thing that pickmup said previously. The 67-68, 69-70, & 71-72 seats are all different, the lengths are obviously different but not sure what else. The STD seat covers just had the vertical lines that went across the seat because that's what mine was. I didn't know there was a DLX seat cover on the 67-68s though.

Re: Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
If you have your original 67 seat frame. Any reputable upholstery guy can fix the broken springs , and worn out foam. And probablly get the seat cover you had made to fit the way it should. I do upholstery has a side job. This shouldn't be a expensive venture. If you still have your original seat frame.

Re: Seat upholstery problems. Please help!
The reason I thought they were all the same was because in the LMC catalogue it said that eventhough they were not the same pattern, they fit from 67 to 72. Does anybody with a 67 know the length ?
The one they sent me is 56 inchs between the little lips. Thanks for all the info
