Bumper for a 71

I am wanting to put a bumper for a 67-70 on a 71. Do I just need the brackets from the 67-70 to get them to line up with the holes on the corners?

Re: Bumper for a 71

I put my 72 truck on a 69 frame. The only thing I had to change was the outer brackets for the bumperto fit.

Re: Bumper for a 71

Are the brackets for the bumpers in our years for these trucks all different?

Re: Bumper for a 71

For the front the outer brackets vary from a 67-70 and a 71-72. The 71-72 brackets are shorter because they have a turn signal in the bumper and the 67-70 do not.

Re: Bumper for a 71

Are you sure you don't have that backwards? I tried to put a 67-70 bumper on last night and my brackets stuck out too far on the ends by about 3" per side.

Re: Bumper for a 71

The 67-70 brackets are shorter than the 71-72. When I installed my 72 bumper onto the 69 frame and brackets, the brackets were too short.

Re: Bumper for a 71

I believe the 71 and 72 4x4 brackets are different from the 71 and 72 2wd brackets. However I'm not sure.

Re: Bumper for a 71

Thanks guys,
This is what my problem is for both of my trucks. I can't get the bumpers right to save my life. Now I know.

Re: Bumper for a 71

I thought also that there is a difference between power steering and non-pwr steering left side bracket?
