tranny adjustment

It apears my tranny th400 has an adjustable modulator on it It shifts now about 3500 rpm which way to I turn it to make it shift higher? And how much adjustment is in them? will i be able to get it to shift over 4000rpm?

Clockwise to shift later. It will only change the shift points 3 or 4 mph.

Pull the govenor out and lighten the flyweights by removing metal from them either by grinding or drilling, be sure to take equal amounts from each to keep them reasonably balanced. It's trial and error but you can fine tune it to your liking.

they also make governor modifier kits with assorted weights and springs to play around with.
