recommendation for rear end work in austin, tx?
I just scored a 3.08 ring and pinion and series 3 carrier. I have read (on this forum) that ring and pinion swaps are not something which the novice should attempt.
So, does anyone have any shops they can recommend for rear end work? |

You might want to try Austin Drive Trane off of 183 down by north lamar.
I also have the number of a mechanic that is supposed to be pretty good over off out Howard and I35. Number is at work can get it for you tomorrow. Sounds like your making progress.

I used Charlie Thrash (Thrash Differentials) is San Antonio. Done very fast and excellent service and work. I originally took the truck to Nogalitos Gear; the truck sat for 6 weeks and they never did anything with it...

I used Austin Drive Train a couple of months ago. They did a good job on my driveshaft, but I did not have them touch the rear-end.
Still, I was pleased with them and they were the first guys to do any professional work on my truck.

I know this recommendation isn't Austin, but I used Parson's in Beaumont. The Eaton guy recommended them. Nice little privately owned shop. Cliff was actually a nice guy. Made an appointment, dropped the truck off late one evening and picked it up the next day.

Sorry it has taken me so long,
Joel at Universal Auto 512-251-7147 he runs his own drag racing team, I know one of his co-owners and this guy does it all. Give him a call. He will not know me but he will know Kevin, Tell him a friend of Kevin gave you the number. Good luck. Thomas
