Heater Cable Removal Tip

I did some searching but didn't come up with a post on this. Sorry if it has already been covered….

Here's how I removed the keepers that hold the heater cables onto the control arms without breaking them.
The first picture is the tool I used to remove the keepers. It is one of the small pick tools (approx. 4" long) The small hook is easy to get under the keeper and work it up off of the post. Take your time & work your way around the inside of the keeper and push it up off the post. Make sure that the tool is between the keeper and the cable end as shown in the last picture.

Re: Heater Cable Removal Tip

well I removed mine yesterday as i was tearing down the cab for paint, and i snapped a couple of the retainers in half.

Where can i find some decent replacement retainers??

I realize this is an older post but you never know...

Re: Heater Cable Removal Tip

I was just at Ace Hardware over the weekend looking for something similar (a thin thread on nut). I'd check your local hardware store in the nut & bolt section. Ours had several automotive trays which included some of these push on clips.
