Just did my 1st heater core removal

Today I done my first heater core removal on the 86 k10 w/ ac. I was surprised how quick and easy it came out. I was also surprised that it had like 3 bolts that were studs that went from the inside out, thru the firewall with a nut on the outside underhood area, and made to the inside box.

Although only one of thoose was holding mine, the 2 on bottom were broke and the top was the only one holding it on.

I think it was like 3 bolts to remove 2 ducts, one in the floor and one were that flap door is, then one more holding the duct work to the end, removed 2 vacuum lines for the pods, took out the one nut from under hood, that was on the top stud, one 10mm bolt on the right side, inside the truck, and pulled off the 2 keepers holding wiring to it, and the keeper from the one cable and it was out.

It took my longer to get the back of the box apart to get the heater core out then it did to remove the box. It was a real PITA to get the bars loose that holds the flaps and trap doors in to remove the back plate and get to the core itself.

Hopefully it'll go back together easy also.

Yeah, getting the box apart is tricky, but putting it back together and getting the heater core pipes back through the firewall is the real PITA!
