Another What Do I Have Thread

Cleaning a rear axle assembly I picked up from a 72 1/2T Suburban. I thought it was a 12 bolt but maybe not. On the cast center section - facing forward - was GM60. Is this normal on 12 bolts? I remember somebody sold a 1/2T rear end as a Dana rear - for big bucks.

Can somebody look at their rear end and see if this common to 12bolts or not. The GM60 was on the drivers side of the center cast piece facing forward.

TIA - Bob

Re: Another What Do I Have Thread

Bob, I have 4 or 5 1972 12 bolts laying around at the shop, I will take a look today to see if the "GM60" was common or not (I never paid any attention)
I do know that there never were any dana 44's or 60's with a 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern.. plus all of the Dana's have a screw in fill plug in the cover and 12 bolts do not..

Re: Another What Do I Have Thread

Mark - Thanks. You have answered this ? because the oil fill is on the cast center portion and the cover does NOT have an oil fill. I have D60 3/4T that has the 60 cast on an angled rib - lower rightside and visible from the rear - and the oil fill in the cover.

Thanks everybody for your responses - Bob
