Question A few questions?????????

I just got a brand new radiator core support for my '71, but I have now decided to go with a '68 front clip. Can I use this support or will I have to get one for a 67-68, I looked at pic and I can see no diff. So if any one has done this I would like to hear from you. Next ques. Will the rear end from a early to mid nintys caprice work on this truck, I am thinking about going with the drive train out of one(LT1, LE40 trans, and the rearend with disc's). Thanks in advance for the help that you guys will give me.

Re: A few questions?????????

It will work but you will need some parts off of a 67-68 core support and drill a couple of holes

Re: A few questions?????????

1. You will need to remove the headlight buckets off your new core support, they are spot welded on. Once you do that you should discover the mounting holes for the 67-68 head light buckets. The real major difference is at the bottom. On 67-68 there are several holes with weld nuts that hold on the splash pan that goes from the grille to the core support. You could drill the holes out and put in those rivit type nuts or me personally, I would just leave the splash pan off.

Re: A few questions?????????

Yes they are. The 67-68 headlights are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches closer to the core support than the 69-72 lights.

Before you remove the headlight buckets make sure the square holes for the adjusters are present - you can tell from the back of the core. Also the retaining spring mount holes.

Also be aware you will need the 67-68 style hood latch in addition to the sheet metal.
