I have seen mention of rear leaf helper or overload springs. A half-spring if I remember right. How do they affect the ride when empty and when loaded ? Is their a need for them on a 3/4 4x4 ? Why or why not ? Just wondering if I should use them on my truck. Anyone have any and how much?

they wont affect ride when not loaded because they are not contacting the trailing arms till there is a load in the bed. they arent available on 4x4 because 4x4s had rear leafs

Got them on my 71 pickup, but like Hooter said, with no load there is over an inch gap between the spring and the pad. Have never carried a heavy enough load to weigh down helpers, so don't know how they ride.
