Help With Fuel Line
Well, I started my truck and after ideling for a few moments it began to sound like it was about to die. I found the fuel line from the pump to the carb had a very small slice in it. Can I go to auto zone or someplace like that and buy new fuel line? When I remove this fuel line from where it connects to the pump will gas keep coming out until my tank is empty? This is my first time dealing with fuel lines so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks, James

Re: Help With Fuel Line
Is it a factory hard line or rubber line? Any autoparts store will have the rubber line in bulk and may have the hard line.
You can remove the line without all of the fuel draining from the tank but the carb bowl will drain out onto your intake so be safe and make sure the engine is cool before removing it. |

Re: Help With Fuel Line
It is part hard line and part rubber. I removed the line, but where it attaches to the fuel pump it kept running so I put the line back in. Will the gas keep coming from the fuel pump or is it only what is in the line from the tank to the pump?

Re: Help With Fuel Line
Was the fuel coming down from the line or up from the pump?
If the crack is in the line from the pump to the carb you do not need to remove the line from the tank to the pump. If you remove the line from the TANK to the pump it WILL drain the gas out of your tank. Last edited by mjrmn; 11-05-2006 at 04:01 PM. |

Re: Help With Fuel Line
If you can unhook the line where it goes into the tank it will break the syphon and only leak what gas is in the line. Now this is only with the stock behind the seat tank.
