I wish they would get my site server fixed

My site has been down all evening. I've tried calling tech support and can't get through. It must be a system wide thing.

So if anyone is trying to reach my site, hang on, it's not gone, just server problems.

Also, for anyone who may be wondering, my site is not hosted by CT. I have my own hosted web space. A 1000 megs to be exact. This is paid for by me and only me.

Finally got through to tech support about my site. It seems the whole place is down because of some major part going out. They are having a new part flown in as I speak. It may be tomorrow before it gets back online. It seems there are 10,000 of us without a site, so I'm not alone.

Mike,
How do you like the site? I'm need of a new website. My site is now on two different servers and getting to 20 MEGs. I still have a lotta pictures to add too.

Hey if anyone has a recommendation on a hosting place I would like suggestions. Thanks.

Hooray. They got it fixed.

Gerardo,

so far I like it. It sure is nice to have a place you can call your own and not have to worry about running out of space. My hosting company is Feature Price I have the Budget Plan. This costs me $119.40 a year, with a one time setup fee of $25.00. Then of course you have to register a domain name. My domain is registered at Network Solutions I paid 29.00 for a one year registration to see if this was for me. You can get discounts with multiple year packages. I didn't want to get a multiple year thing at first. I will when I renew it though.

It's not real cheap, but man is it worth it to be able to do what you want and not have to mess with different places to have your stuff, not counting popups, not being able to link to your pics off site, etc. If you are planning on having your site for a while and are serious about it, this is the only way to go. It means a lot to have ftp access and cgi-bin access. No way I would ever think about going back to some type of free hosting. The web based file uploads of a maximum of 5 files at a time flat out sucks.

I use http://www.phpwebhosting.com as my webhost for 4 different sites. I am quite happy with them. They charge $9.95 per month and offer a lot of features for the price. There is no setup fee. They can bill your credit card monthly, or you can pay by check 6 months or a year at a time. If you pay yearly, they give you 13 months for the price of twelve.

I use dotster.com as my domain name registrar. They charge $15 per year, $28 for two years, etc. The longer you register for, the cheaper it gets. I have heard a lot of good things about godaddy.com lately, and their domain name registrations prices are really low. I don't recommend using Network solutions. Now that they are not the only domain registrar, their pricing structure is outdated.
