billet grill & hood latch
I installed a billet grille insert....my question is what clever ideas do you guys have to get your hood open without standing on your head? Right now I'm using a broom handle from the bottom behind the bumper.

Re: billet grill & hood latch
Some billet grilles come with a hood latch relocator kit.It extends the latch handle down behind the bumper for easy acess.

Re: billet grill & hood latch
Somewhere back here in the thousands of posts is one about this very thing. Remote hood releases. Cable actuated or a rod bolted or welded to the latch release and extending down. Seems like it was Putter who has it down in pics. Do a search yet?

I made it out of a cheap lawn sprinkler handle I got at Home Depot for a few bucks. It was about the right length to reach to the bottom of the bumper to the hood release. I cut the fork of the end and threaded it for 1/4-20 nuts. It was slightly oversize so I ground the diameter down till I could thread it. My hood release handle already had a hole in it so I used a nylock nut above and below it. I then used an adele cable clamp slightly larger than the sprinkler rod to secure it to the grille support and keep it in position. I then painted it black and it works like a champ. |

Re: billet grill & hood latch
Go to the index thread on the FAQ page. Under "Custom Touches" is a link to Putters junkyard cable hood release.
