Question on 4x4 emblems?
I have a '71 4x4 K10 Custom/10 purchased about 9 years ago. Have it in the process of a complete rebuild and would like to know why it does not have the "4 wheel drive" emblems on the fenders? Have seen other trucks in a K series with them. Would it be because it is a Custom/10 and is a low end truck as in low optioned. Full gauges, 350 V-8, 4 Spd, LWB,power steering and disc brakes and factory lockout hubs. That about covers it. Where would the emblems be placed on the fenders, under the engine displacement on the front of the fenders or under the Custom/10 emblems at the rear of the fender just in front of the door? And can some one give dimensions on placement, if possible would like emblems to be in stock location. My thanks to all reply and Keep On Truckin'

Looking through an original GM Parts Division chassis and body parts catalog, effective 1979, 1970 was the only year that is shown to have the "4 wheel drive" emblem. The "4 wheel drive" emblem has the same mounting holes as the "8/350" emblem under the front marker light on the front fenders. Because your truck is a 71' it should have the "8/350" emblem instead of having the "4 wheel drive" emblem. Hope this helped.

Yes, '70 only. On '70 4X4s, the "4 Wheel Drive" emblem was under the marker light, and if you had an optional engine (such as a 350) the displacement emblem was under the emblem at the back of the front fender (the "K/5 Blazer" emblem in my case).

My 68 K20 has the 4 Wheel Drive emblems
My 72 K5 does Not have them. I'm thinking they were a 67-70 item. 71-72 had the engine emblem under the marker not the 4 wheel drive. ------------------ Marysville, WA 72 K5 CST Blazer 68 3/4t 2wd Chev Custom 68 3/4t 4wd Chev Basket 93 1/2t burb - wifes [This message has been edited by Dan72cst (edited May 02, 2002).]
