Like Kevin said, the frontend is a Dropmember. There are a couple of different versions... the one above, and the DropmemberC4 (lets you bolt up C4 Corvette suspension). They are both bolt-in and make the frame-rails the lowest point on the truck. There are a couple more threads about them here in the suspension forum.
The Dropmember is designed to use Air Ride's Strong arms, but will work with other brand tubular arms and also stock arms... the lower stock arms from 63-72 will need a little bit of clearance work to mount up without interfrence.

Yeah, if only I had 25 hrs in a day!

Re: Dino63's 66SWB

Got some more done on the 66... it is now a running driver. There is still some more work to get done... plumb the air and install the valves, (Air Ride Tech. Big Red Valves) install the compressor (Oasis... one bad pump!), install the tanks, and install the three Optima batteries.

PB, amazing as always! I love that body style too. I looked long and hard for a '66 before I gave up and bought my '69.

I can't wait to run a drop member in my truck.

Not to whore up the thread, but will the C4 suspension bolt up to a 62? I know that it uses the torsion bar front end so i didnt know if it would or wouldnt. Thanks again for the help man!

I love these trucks too... I have a 66 SWB big window and a 66 Suburban that will one day recieve the royal treatment. The sub will be going under the knife shortly (losing a lot of its sheetmetal and some of its wheelbase).

I am pretty sure the frame-rails on the torsion bar frames are a bit narrower. I have heard of 2wd crossmembers with coils being swapped over... if that's the case I don't know why not. I have not personally done the conversion so am unable to confirm it will work. I have a 61 SWB out in the yard and can check some measurements... one of these days!

Re: Dino63's 66SWB

Damn! That thing is on the ground! That's what I'm going for on my '62.

I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind:
1. What are you using for hood hinges, because is doesn't look like you could run inner fenders?
2. How much did you have to cut the rear of the cab to clear the drive shaft?

As for the hood hinges... they will be just like they are on Dino's panel (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=200506) you can find the pics there.

I had to cut ZERO inches out of the back of the cab! However I did have to cut the stock trans tunnel out where it meets the firewall for clearance at the bellhousing.

Re: Dino63's 66SWB

Ahhhh, that's pretty slick! You do some awesome work! Thanks for the quick response. I'm assuming you didn't have to cut the rear of the cab because your Dropmember keeps the engine pretty low in the truck? I Z'd my frame 3" so I'm thinking I'll have to cut my cab...a lot! I wish I had seen your Dropmember before I Z'd my frame, but there's no turning back now!

They're the "shorty" style headers used on chevelles, camaros, and novas... I think a few guys have had some clearance issues running them with a stock motor mount... the driver's side doesn't clear??? They work perfectly with a Dropmember .

Thanks, I like the look a lot. I'm thinking this summer I'm going to build something similar to the dropmember, don't have the money to buy one. I love the idea and u've got amazing work
