HELP.....Fuel Pump Question???

This is simple, I'm sure, but I didn't remove the lines, so now I have no reference of what goes where Anyway, I have your standard mechanical fuel pump that was already attached to the BB I just dropped in. I know that the nozzle (or whatever it may be called) facing toward the front is the one that shoudl run to the carb...or from the carb. However, there is another nozzle on the underside of the F/P and then a hole with threads on the backside of the F/P, facing rearward. What are the underside fitting end and rear side threaded hole for? I'm sure that one is the return, but which one? Then what's the purpose of the other??

HELP!!!!!!

Re: HELP.....Fuel Pump Question???

Most of the pumps that I have seen have the discharge to the carb on the front side. The inlet is a square block on the bottom of the pump (also facing front wards on the pump bottom. The return is a smaller line (usually a tube with a bulb on the end and real small orifice in it) on the bottom. The real small hole limits the fuel amount returning to the tank and it ensures there is enough going to the carb.

Sorry, I would have to remove the F/P to get a good pic. And I hate reinstalling them and trying to move that pin inside block while doing so. Call me lazy...
