Emblem Installation
Thanks everyone for your help on getting a fuel neck rubber grommet installed. Boiling water, dish soap and a little push or two from a plastic putty knife did the trick.
So now the next item I am hjaving a problem with. My painter reassembled the front fenders on the truck before he re-installed the Bowtie / 10 emblems which of course bolt on. Any ideas on how to install them without having to pull the fender? I thought about using the 4 holes as guides to drill a pilot hole into the air vent box from the outside and then using a 5/8" drill on the inside to make a hole large enough to fit a 3/8" socket thru and then covering the holes with nylon caps, but I really don't know if I want to have 4 holes in each vent box. |

Re: Emblem Installation
You can bolt them on with the fenders on. I got them off of my 72 without pulling the fender or inner fender. Get you one of those ratchet wrenches, put the emblems on and stick your hand up in there and put the nut on. And wrench them on. It is a pain to get your hands up there but it can be done.
Hope this helps. |

Re: Emblem Installation
That idea might work for the bottom 2 bolts but there is just no way to get a hand or a wrench up on the top 2, the air vent box (or whatever it is called) is less than 2 inches from the fender wall.

Re: Emblem Installation
My best plan is to get some 1/4 in barrel clips and put in the holes, then the emblems just push on from the outside. I think you can get them at NAPA. These are the same clips that hold the center tailgate trim on above the handle.

"I think you can get them at NAPA." A good paint supply shop should keep these in stock also. I had to have some for an old Chevy Nova I was working on.
