69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

I'm thinking of trying to buy or trade for a 2wd Blazer. What kind of price range are these selling for? With a wife and two little boys, I figure a Blazer would be alot better for me than a reg. cab truck.

Please do not post trucks for sale in this thread. I'm only asking for prices to know if I'll even be in the ball park to buy or trade.

Nice starter I would say between 3-6k, a nice driver 6-15k, and if you can fine a show Blazer 15-35k.

Sounds about right. In the $3-6K range, you are talking about a total fixer. There weren't very many made so the prices just keep going up.

Blazer's are great family rigs. You might look for a converted 2wd since you can usually get them for less than a factory 2wd.

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

Condition is everything. I'd take one with a good body and little rust that doesn't run over a running rust bucket any day...

Good luck, Rg

P.S. Once you are in the market let me know. I may be able to help you...

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

interestingly, i did a N.A.D.A. value on a 2wd blazer with a/c
Original MSRP: $3,258
Base
Low Retail - $3,425
Average Retail - $8,050
High Retail - $20,100

Options
Factory Air Conditioning adds 5%
TOTAL PRICE $3,596 $8,453 $21,105

incidentally, i recently got a loan for a '72 blazer (4wd) and these are the values that the financial institution used to base their approval on.

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

Well I bought mine (70 2WD) for $2k and it runs but needs about every panel replaced from rust or damage. This is just what I was looking for for a HowTo project but it still gives you a reality price. I agree with the above prices but let me just say if you find one that is higher priced than it is realy worth I doubt you will be able to talk the person down because they are so hard to find. I say look for a real nice 4wd and convert it, because a nice converted 4wd will still set you back close to the price of a nice original if it is done right.

I paid 4,000.00 for mine 11 yrs ago and had very little rust in the floors and thats it. Front end suspension needed rebuilding so I tore it down for a frame off!! LOL!!

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

Above prices seem about right. Key is the frame being solid and straight, then the body of course---focusing on the firewall-windshield frame, tub & rear quarters. The front clip is universal so no big whoop there. A modified 4x4 is a much cheaper solution but not sure the resale would ever equal an original.

ROK that is nuts. I didnt know you drove that far to pickup your Blazer. A 1970 First Gen. 2wd is the RAREST of the rare though.

I would say they are worth about the same... the lower production numbers of Jimmys vs Blazers offsets the preference of Blazers over Jimmys. This is of course just my opinion and I have no numbers to back it up.

Jimmy's don't seem to be as desireable, my guess is it is mostly because the name isn't as well know. You'll also find a lot of Jimmy's with Blazer front ends.

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

ok so i am wondering about the 72 jimmy i got, it was a 6 banger, sm465, 4x4. the body is pretty straight only minor dents and dings, needs new rockers, and the boxes, but everythign else is good, the doors are not expanding at the seams, no rear hatch, or interior (except dash column, gauges), wire harnes, or engine. has a double wall top. was orginally a cali vehicle, i got it in iowa, now its in chicago. i paid $1100 off e-bay, plus gas and time to get it. if i were to want to sell it now, what would be an approximate ball park?

I paid $6800 for this, but .............. it came with a extra set of rear
quarter panels, an extra windsheild frame and firewall assembly (Big ass
part and very heavy too) an extra drivers fender, a new set of corvette
rally's still in the boxes, and it has air ride (Not finished but it's all there)
a rear adj panard bar and c-notch kit still new in the boxes along with it
So all in all I really paid about $5K for the Jimmy and $1800 for the parts

*Oh yea, and I drove 1850 mile in 45 hours to get it, not much sleep

Yes you will, as mine is one as well. <==== 1st time I've said this should I change my sig?

Below is a picture from the ebay ad. After I subtracted the price of the rims and tires (about 5K). (I was fortunate that the rims were one of 3 different styles I was going to buy later.) That helped justify the purchase for me (along with a couple of other things ).

$14.9k-$5k=$9.9k

I drove about 260 miles total.

Re: 69-72 2wd Blazer prices?

I found this one in the newspaper about 30 min away, for under $4k...original paint, no rust and running driving nice...about 20 years ago! This was my first 67-72 truck...and I still have it! I have done a few little things to it over the years.

First one I ever saw was in Bremerton, Wa. Seems to be a few of these in that area.

Before you know it everyone's gonna have one of these!
