Re: Video of my truck

Your truck sounds real good. It is coming along real nice. My neighbor told my wife he used me as an alarm clock every morning. To hell with the neighbors and what they think of me. I always keep to myself unless one of them wants to strike up a friendship and then were cool about everything. Like I told a couple of the non friendly ones, "you mind your own buiseness and I'll mind mine.

Sounds great, thanks for posting. What size rear wheels and tires are you using? They fit the wheel well perfect!

Re: Video of my truck

Sounds great. What motor are you running. We need more info and more pics please. I know my neighbors are glad to see the winter come so I will not be starting mine and leaving early in the morning. In August I got up 2 different Saturdays and left to head to car shows about 6am and that night I had my neighbors asking me not to start it so early in the morning.

Re: Video of my truck

Sounds great. Is that a gear drive I hear or a blower?

2 of my neighbors are rodders so I blend in. There is a donkey butt that lives about 3 houses down that has screamed at me before but I told her to F%$# off. If your ride is loud it doesn't matter how fast you're going. They always think you're going faster than you are.

Re: Video of my truck

thanks for all the comments! I'll give some info on the truck...

The engine is a 350 bored .40 over (357ci). Stainless Steel crank, 302 chevy rods, 10.5:1 compression flat top forged alum. pistons. The heads are 462 hump backs decked to 58cc's ported and polished. 1.5:1 comp cams rockers and .600 max lift springs. The cam is a solid crane with 536 lift and 288 duration (grind #: F-244/3454-2S-6). Cam is driven by a pete jackson noisy gear drive. Intake is a weiand team-g high rise. Carb is a holley 750 double pumper. The engine is starving for fuel though, I need to put the fuel cell and electric pump in. GM perf. billet distributor with MSD ford cap. MSD 6AL ingnition and blaster II coil. Tranny is a TH350 with a 3k stall and b&m shift kit. Hurst quarter stick. Custom built one piece drive shaft. 12 bolt possi with 3.73 gears. It is not narrowed. The wheels are 15"x12" with 31x16.5-15 mickey thompson et streets, the front are 15"x6" with mickey thompson sportsmans. The last time I posted on here I remember getting a lot of questions about back spacing, unfortunately I couldn't remember then, and I still haven't measured, next time I have the wheels off the truck I'll have to remember to measure. The front is lowered with 2.5" drop spindles and 3" drop springs and the back is lowered with 4" springs and home made 2" blocks. Here is an out dated picture of the engine, the pro-crap water pump quit working on me so I have an edelbrock aluminum pump on there, and its really dirty now...

the pictures I have of the truck are also outdated because it still has the sportsmans on the back and doesn't have the louvered hood, oh and the paint isn't as faded in the older pics...

this is what it looked like when I started on it winter 2001...

its come a long way, but still has a long way to go

Re: Video of my truck

Nice setup, I've done launches in front of my house at 10pm setting a carb then loading into my trailer night before races. Nobody on my street ever complains, mostly older people, bussiness owners, even have a doctor couple houses down, guy across the street that owns the DQ comes over and checks it out. I'd say by the looks of things you have the exact rim's as I do, and your backs are more than likely 7" back spacing.

its lowered 5.5" in the front with 3" springs and 2.5" spindles, the exhaust dumps just before the rear axle

yeah, probably, because I remember when ordering them, they told me I'm getting the very last two because they aren't going to make anymore 5x5 bolt pattern 15x12 with that backspacing, and looking around on the internet you can only get 6.5 and 7.5 back spacing, not 7".

I was wondering, is your truck a short bed, and if so, what have you done to the back suspension to get it to hook like that? I was told once that trailering arm suspension isn't too bad for drag racing, my truck isn't as fast as yours, but I've noticed it likes to launch in a straight line.

Re: Video of my truck

Mine is a long box, and I have it 4-linked with coil overs. But alot of guy's run the trailing arms with coil over kits with great success. DJRacer's truck from the forum here run's that setup and he runs 5.882 @ 113.78 with a 1.312 60ft in the 1/8 mile. Yea that sucks about the rims if a guy wrecks one, they told me the same thing about the 15x6's we have on the front.

no modifications besides the tub, the backspacing is 7" (I'm pretty sure), and some kid pulled out in front of me when I was doing 45. Thanks
