Need help choosing wheel size!!!

Hey all,

I am in the middle of a frame off build that I hope will be done by Summer next year.

The truck is a 68 Chevy short bed that will have the ECE 4/6 drop kit.
Truck is gonna be a bright med blue metallic with graphite interior. I know how I want nearly every detail of the finished truck, but I just cannot visualize the wheel size. I have looked at probably hundred of pics and just cannot decide.

Considering the wheels and tires will be one of the more expensive parts of the build, I don't want to mess up.

I know I want Foose Nitrous wheels in Chrome, 8" wide in the front, 10" in the rear. I want to keep the same circumference front to rear, rather than say 18's front and 20's rear.

Now do I go 18's or do I go 20's. Unfortunately I cannot buy both and see em on the truck.

So pls post your comments and advice on how to make that call.

Pics would be great, need wheel and tire size suggestions, and also backspacing recommendations.

I am hearing 4-4.5 bksp for the front and 5-5.75 on the rears.
How would the look differ between a 4" backspace and a 4.5"?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Need help choosing wheel size!!!

I'm running 18 x 8's all around with 4 inches of backspace. On the stepside the rear tires rub a little bit on the bedsides but I'm not sure about the fleetside beds.

Re: Need help choosing wheel size!!!

BP68, I just tried to send you an email, but it was returned. You might wanna look into it.

Here are a couple links I've used in the past to help with wheel/tire size and backspacing. Just enter current info, then desired wheel/tire info, and it will show variances in real world numbers, such as actual tire height/width, etc. Actual numbers that we need to know to determine if the desired wheels/tires will fit under our trucks.

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/info_spe...20/%20Comparer

Another helpful tire size link.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

I am running 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear. Backspacing front is 5 inches and 5.5 rear. Tires are 255/45-20 front and 295/45-20 rear. It helps to have more BS on front when you lower it. The more BS, the more inward (toward motor) it will sit, providing more tire-to-fender clearnace. As low as mine looks, you would think that I having rubbing issues when turning, but there are NONE. I can turn the wheels from full lokc to lock with no interference.

Hope this helps.

Jesse
