HEI Distributor Question??
I got my new Proform HEI distributor in the mail today. I was wondering do I need a special clamp to hold down the distributor? I see that summit sells these but I am not sure wether I need one or not. Also I got a Summit HEI power pigtail to connect the power to the distributor. I was wondering that if I did not get this how would I hook up the 12v power to the coil. Is the connector like a standard one that I can just buy at HomeDepot or Autozone or something? THanks for the help. Here is a link for the HEI pigtail for anyone who is confused about what I am saying.

ok u have to have a distributor clamp but there should already be one on the motor from the old dizzy.theres is nothin special u need as far as clamp goes the stock one will work just fine unless ur tryin to make everything look nice. the pigtail is just so the power source locks into the hei. u can either get that or just use a female connecter that matches the mail connector on the hei. but make sure u have a full 12 volts goin to the dizzy.

If you haven't done so already, run a new wire to the HEI, the one for the points coil isn't big enough. Need at least 14 gauge wire with an inline fuse, connect to an unfused ignition port on the fuseblock.

The connector isnt really needed. You can use a 1/4" female spade terminal connector . I run a 10 gage wire directly to the unfused terminal on the fuse block with female 1/4" crimp on terminals on both sides and shrink sleeves . As always use a good industrial quality crimper when doing crimps and you'll never have a problem.

Fred T - do I really need an inline fuse? If so what size fuse should I use?
