I need a new steering wheel

2 days of proud ownership! I desperately need a new steering wheel. I would like something under 15 inches with little or no dish and as inexpensive as possible. Any ideas where that could be purchased?

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Do you have power steering?

if so, you could go down to a 13 1/2 steering wheel. I run grant Formula 1 steering wheels in most of my vehicles that size and love them.

check your local auto parts stores, you can find wheels anywhere from $30 - 100.

make sure you buy the adapter kit specific for your vehicle, it will make life a million times easier, not to mention most wheels require it, especially those with little to no dish.

Good luck

--EDIT--
I did a quick search on summit's site, and came up with 358 wheels. and there are alot in the $20-50 range. If you choose a grant wheel, the intstallation kit is p/n GRT-3163 costing $16.95

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Thanks for the info. I can't believe I didn't check at Summit. I used to live within 15 miles of the Tallmedge,OH store and bought many parts from them during my misspent youth!

WEll if you're buying parts for your vehicle and working on it, I wouldn't exactly call that misspent. That's what I do!

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Buying parts and working on cars wasn't the misspent part.

Re: I need a new steering wheel

I have something kind of like this:

The Grant website says that it is $188. The wood grip wheels look great with our rigs in my opinion.

Don't forget you'll need an installation kit for most aftermarket steering wheels. They run between $30-$50.

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Since we are talking steering wheels here, and I need a new one also, does anyone know if the hub from a 68 Nova 3 spoke cushion grip wheel will fit our trucks? I have a '71.

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Look at YOGI's website www.yogisinc.com. They sell a great Lacarra brand billet aluminum steering wheel and the mounting hardware is so much easier than the Grant stuff. I have gotten rid of the Gants and moved on to them. Their prices are pretty good for the higher end stuff.

Re: I need a new steering wheel

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went with a Grant Challenger series 3 spoke design, very inexpensive. The old wheel was difficult to remove, but when it finally broke free, the rest of the installation was easy.
