Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
I got a bunch of high temp powder from Pendry Powdercoating, but I don't know that they carry it anymore. You might want to email George and see if he still has it, I didn't see it on the site. Check ebay also.
The stuff I got only comes in flat black, cures at 400 and is good to 1700 degrees. It was $15 a pound and you can do about 5 sets with a pound. Worked very well on both dirt bike and truck pipes.

Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
You will need to use the hi temp ceramic powder for manifolds or headers. But you can get this powder in different colors if you want an original or custom look.

So you know: caps are equivalent to yelling on the Internet please mind your caps. Not using caps also lets you use spell check. Flat black would work but make sure it's a ceramic powder coat as the normal stuff will likely crack. OnDrew Last edited by roj2323; 02-07-2007 at 05:17 PM. |

But you should still begin your sentences with caps.

Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
It's just good grammar, to start a sentance with a capital letter.
Back on topic... Black or silver would be my first choice, but color matching the engine, and accessories could be cool... I'll take my manifolds / headers in Blaze Orange

Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
I remember seeing some polished and "coated" 'vette ram-horns on N2TRUX's RJ350. I don't know what coating he used, but you may want to PM him and ask.
They looked really boss.

Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
I bought the 1200 degree paint @ auto-zone yesterday. While is was @ work @ PTS (engine shop) I put my manifolds in the shop blast machine and ran them for about 30 min. took them out, blew em off then painted them. I then got the oven up to about 200 degrees and let it get to about 400 degrees then shut the oven off and let them cool. When they cooled to around 125 I fired it back up and cooked them for about 30 min. @ 600. I hope they turned out well
I will take pictures this evening and post tommorow.

Re: Powdercoating Ramhorn Manifolds
Last time I used AutoZone hi-temp paint on ram-horns, it burned off in the first 5 minutes! Grind smooth, sandblast, ceramic coat.
