Re: 4.3 vortec?

You know what would be fun. Since these trucks are so big in the engine bay, stick two of the old I6s in there, make it a twin I-12 (you get to make the name up, new thing!) Just for kicks.

Ive gotta '69 long bed too. Got any pics of the donor blazer?

Re: 4.3 vortec?

All this conversion stuff is cool & would be really sweet when done, if done right. If not, it could really turn into more of a nightmare. Wouldnt it be better spending the $300 on a tune up & other needed items for the 250? Just my opinion, & I know exactly how it is when you want what you want...

Re: 4.3 vortec?

well, i have talked to a board member who has this exact swap. and is willing to help out. my biggest thing is i want the fuel injection, and the reliability of the new motor. plus i will be parting out the blazer when the project is done, maybe get some of my money back out of it.

Re: 4.3 vortec?

its a beautiful day here, and i got my truck out and cruised around in it, and i started thinking about how much i like to drive my truck with the manuel tranny, so im thinking maybe i will keep the tranny and just swap motors, for a while anyway. i think that it will simplify the swap just a little, and i dont have to shorten my drive shaft.

Re: 4.3 vortec?

I put a 4.3 in my 53 willy's and am running a ford T-18 tranny behind it with
a jeep transfer case and Dana 44's front and back. You could run a intake, carb and headers and skip the fuel injection wiring hastle. The motor kicks out about 230 hp which if I am not wrong is what stock 350 chevy's were putting out in that year.

Re: 4.3 vortec?

not a bad idea, but is it difficult to get those parts for a 4.3?

Re: 4.3 vortec?

Have you thought asbout getting the 250 worked on and adding fuel injection to the 250? Maybe a 4.3 throttle body set-up would be cool.
