Blazer Question?
Is a factory 2-wheel drive Blazer Coil or Leaf spring? How do you tell if it is a factory 2-wheel drive? Thanks

they came with coil and leaf. to know it is an original 2wd you got to get the Vin number and make sure it matchs up with the frame vin number.

you can also tell buy the frame a 2wd bow's out right over the rear axle as a 4x4 is strait (narrower)

first it's just like a 2wd truck "C" and the last digits of the vin numer should be the same as the ones stamped on the frame above the steering boxs.
Whats jumping around your mind Tim? |

The first digit on 69 - 71 will be a C for 2 wheel drive, or a K for 4 wheel drive.
On a '72, the first will always be C on a Chevyrolet, but just look at the second one...again, C or K. |

Are you sure about the leaf option on 2wd? I've always heard that 2wd Jimmy/Blazer are coil only. Also, I've never seen a leaf 2wd Jimmy/Blazer. I believe that is only true for the trucks. I'd like to see some documentation.

I agree with 70 Jimmy. I think we have verified in the past that all 2WD Blazers/Jimmys of this era had coil spring rears. The brochures from these years also show this to be true. No leaf spring option on 2WD Blazer/Jimmy. If you find a 2WD with leafs in the back, it has been converted from 4WD, and there are a bunch of these conversions floating around out there.

The converted ones are still desireable. Just don't let anyone try and fool you. I'm thinking of putting "X 4X4" on my plates. LOL

2wd are all coil. I know there aren't that many true 2wd's out there, but still coil.
