4x4 conversion

I recently bought a 1971 1/2 ton that had been converted to a 4x4 with all 3/4 ton dif. which means 8 lug. does anyone know of a company that produces a conversion kit to disc brakes as they are currently drums. i would like to convert all four but i would like to keep the 8 lug set up.
thank you

Re: 4x4 conversion

Is it a open knuckle or closed knuckle front axle?Open knuckle axles with drums can be converted over easily,if its a closed axle it can still be done, but its hard. You can bolt in a 73-87 3/4 ton front axle,it will work or look for a 70-72 3/4 ton front axle to use.As for the rear,I dont think you can get a 8 lug disc brake conversion

Re: 4x4 conversion

The rear can be done it just depends on what rear you have that will determine weather its a kit or a fab job. if it is a 73 on up 14 bolt full float rear there are bolt on kits. If it is a dana 60 or the sterling you can do it your self with factory pieces however you will generaly loose you e- brake as most people and kits use front 4x4 calipers. You can find the brackets on flea bay but you will have to modify the bolt patern where it bolts on as nowone makes one specific to our axles. the roters are from the front of a 3/4 4x4 73 on up frome a solid axle. you may have to drill your hubs for the larger 9/16 studs as well.
